Solution For Cleaning and Scale Removal in Pickling of Stainless Steel

The above solutions are used forcleaning and scale removal in pickling of stainless steel.

Hot rolled sheetsare pickled for 10-20 minutes in 8% of fomulation (A)

Formulation A :
Sulfuric Acid = 11
Glacial Acetic Acid = 10
Silicon Aerosol = 6
Polyvinyl Alcohol ( PVA ) = 1
Water = 72

and 2% hydrochloric acid solution ( formulation B)

Formulation B :
Hydrochloric Acid = 200
Water = 800

The cold rolled sheets are pickled for 5-15 minutes in 6% solution of formulation (A) and formulation (C),

Formulation C :
Sulfuric Acid = 50
Water = 950

and with 4% solution of formulation (D) as required.

Formulation D:
Phosporic Acid = 100
Water = 900

ron bars and wires are pickled for 10-40 minutes in 10% solution of each of formulation (A) and (C) and with 4% solution of formulation (B).
Cold rolled strips of metals are pickled either straight in formulation (C) or 8% solution of formulation ( A) in conjunction with 2% solution of formulation (D).

These treatments produce an unetched chemicaily passivated surfaces.
And Formulation (E)
Hydrochloric acid (20°Be’) = 1000 cc
Cupric chloride = 60 gms
Water = 2000 cc

Temperature = 80 ° C
Treatment period :
For Iron = 20-40 minutes
For Nickel = 1 – 2 hours

The above solution is used to derust and descale all metals which have been corroded in oxidizing atmosphere or all hot rolled metals which have been allowed to cool in oxidising atmosphere.
